We're looking at buying a "new-to-us" Volvo. Looking for a 2006-2007 XC70. Apparently we are used Volvo for life.

Is there someplace that defines the different trim lines. In some postings, I see things like 2.5T (which I gather is the higher performing turbo engine), as well as things like A and SR.

A little help please, or direction to a website. I tried Wikipedia and google.

One final question: As the current owner of an '01XC70, should I be equally afraid of an '08? (I'm thinking yes!)

Welcome.

I asked the same questions about the 07 vs the 08. The '08 was riddled with "first year\new gen" problems. The '07 (which I bought) supposedly has all the bugs and kinks worked out. However, I've already had to have my starter and TPM sensors replaced (all under CPO warranty). I'd say go with a 2007. However, they are completely different inside and out (including motor - 2008 gets a 3.2 240 HP 6 cyl found in the XC90). So I would still drive both. We just liked the 2007 better.

Here is the brochure for the '07 XC: http://personalizeyourvolvo.com/enewsletter/Insider/PDFfiles/MY07XC70USrevsedfinal.pdf

Scroll down to page 35 for packages. I got lucky and scored all 3 with mine. =)

That's an interesting brochure. I'm still looking for one for the Canadian market, as my '07 has a combination of options that doesn't track with the packages in the brochure.

Thanks for the brochure. Pretty neat. But I don't see in there where it defines what A or SR mean.

I think A is Automatic and SR is Sunroof.

Those terms are all defined somewhere in VADIS.

Most come one way in the US with only a couple ofextra options
All the same engine (I think Canada is the same, either a 2.4T up to 2003 then the 2.5T, 03 to 07
99% have premium (moonroof-leather, power seats etc)
OFor most of them the only extras here are usually NAV, park sensors, booster seats plus one or two smaller options
