Which one would you let go?

2002 VW Jetta TDI 125K (Mine)
2001 Volvo XC70 122K (Hers)
1995 Volvo 850 Turbo 220K (Kids)
1992 Ford F150 4WD 242K (Wood getter)
1983 Mercedes 300D Turbo 240K (new cruiser)
1965 Corvair Corsa 96K (Fun car)

The wife says we have too many and need to think about thinning the herd. Only one I would says is off the table is the F150 (I use it around the property too much)

Just trolling for opinions.

I'd vote Mercedes. It's got miles on it, it doesn't do anything special compared to the others, yet is still worth some $ to someone that wants a diesel.

Gotta keep the Corvair! My '65 Corsa is at the shop right now getting a new convert top put on.

"In 2007 Time along with Pulitzer Prize winning automotive journalist Dan Neil named the Corvair one of the 50 Worst Cars of All Time, ":D

So I guess it must be up there with the 2000/2002 XC70.

Since the wife wants to get rid of a car, get rid of her's!

I love the W-123 body MBs...best cars ever made. I say the Jetta goes - it's a soon to be maintenance nightmare...all the rest are old enough or unique enough to have soul....

But, reading tpxc's post...there's a negotiating tactic for you...hey honey, you're right, so let's get rid of your one car...and I'll keep these 4 over here, my convertible, my cruiser, my truck and my sedan...

Let me know how THAT works out!

I agree. I had an '82 240D that went over 500K miles and was a great car the entire time. Unfortunately, it wasn't me that had it that long. One of the big car mistakes of my life. The Corvair is the poor man's Porsche. It's a Corsa so it's the best model and these days not too many around. Now if it wasn't doing something useful, I'd ditch the truck but it appears that it is useful to you. So it leaves the Jetta or the XC (IMHO the 850 is up there as far as one of the better Volvo series so that's untouchable) and since this is a XC site, I have to go with the Jetta even though my son had his '01 go 600K kms before he traded it for an '04 wagon.

Tough choice for sure.

Have fun,

Bill

Corvair's are cool now.
Your choice.
You can still replace the Benz, not so the Corvair too easily if it's decent
and of course if it IS decent, it's worth a heck of a lot more

My vote is for the '01 V70XC, so we don't have to read another sad story about how awful the 01 auto tranny is :p

The jetta will fall apart, the benz will rust away.
Depends what motor in the jetta, I bet diesel will start making the jetta competitive to fill up soon.
What kind of driving? Can they stretch thier legs? or will they be short trip vehicles?
I'm not a fan of the VDub's electrical stuff. It may run, but you'll have no windows/ A/C and your rear lamps will be blinking without you knowing it

If the Benz is in good shape, and only has mild cancer, I'd vote to snuff the V'Dub's tiki
