I've got a 2002 xc70 that I purchased with about 20K miles on it about 7 years ago. It's now got 105K on it...I've taken good care of it and it has new tires, batteries, tow package and just replaced timing belt. I'm thinking about trading it in....I've loved it, but, it's not the ideal vehicle for hauling dirt, boards, yaddy yaddy...

The car dealer is offering me $5500 for a trade...that feels really low. The KBB site doesn't go back to 2002, and I can only find a handful for sale out there online (3 to be exact...all with between 135K - 270K miles).

Thoughts from other XC owners...should I just buy a trailer and hang on to my xc? :)

Not really, a hair low
You're not going to find anyone who will give you much more than 6K (in real dollars, not fudged up numbers) for an 02 anymore with those miles.
(and never go by KBB, their number are WAY off, very optimistic).

These are the most recent national dealer auction prices for an 02 XC.
As you can see, $5500 was very fair. Remember, trade in is usually LOWER than auction sell prices.
This is what a dealer goes by (if they're smart)

You're also in the wrong forum, this is for 98-2000 XCs (Gen 1s)

ouch! you're right...this is the wrong forum! but, luckily, you've got the information that I've been searching for online without success. Sounds like KBB is off (I thought that they might be high) and that my dealer is offering a fair up offer. Thanks!

...but why replace the car when all you need is a trailer?

Don't forget to check www.nadaguides.com and www.edmunds.com for valuations, as well. I never refer to only one guide when I look for vehicle prices, they can vary A LOT over multiple sources.
