I have a dyno day coming up in 3 weeks and they are only running FWD or RWD. This is the only real opportunity to have the XC on the dyno [thumbup]
Is there a way I can make the XC FWD or RWD for day?

In the cargo area you have a fusebox, remove the fuse nr 17 (AWD control module/DEM). This method is for XC70 -2004 for 2004- is the fuse nr 23, the fuse is rated 7.5A, brown color .

Enjoy your FWD vehicle :)

Cheers!

Next question.
Has anyone done this and dynoed their car?
Im curious to know if the figure would be the same, more or less than normal AWD mode?

disconnect drive shaft

IIRC 04+ is when it went to the haldex in the back.
I am almost 100% sure your AWD is no different then the 98 cars.

Chilled Man,

I think 2003 was the switch to the Haldex. At least that's what my '03 has....

Yep, that's correct according to all the official info. And as a "verification" my '02 is VC.

Cheers,

Bill

No way you can do this properly (or inproperly) and safely unless you remove the propshaft

I second JRL, if they let you do it without physically disconnecting the drive line from the rear wheels, they are crazy, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere near that dyno.

So in other words, its a no.
btw, my XC is the same as the year badged V70XC

Is it easy to remove this prop / rear drive shaft?

Not that difficult

In my prev. 04 all i had to do was disconnect the ABS-module. Bottom right fuse in the front driverside fusebox. Then the AWD got no info, and shut down. I dont know if it works for the vicious-coupling-AWD, mine had a Haldex-system (XC70 (03-07) (not V70XC(01-02)) and on)

Jim, its purely for the purpose of getting on a dyno.
There are over $5500 in prizes to be won between 40 cars.
I want to do this.

Try the fuses. If you get torque steer (or a message in the DIM saying ABS / braking system is disabled or needs service) ur good to go.

I will be doing the "remove prop shaft" method

Do you not understand?
He has an 02 which has the old V/C system;

NO FUSE TO PULL
NO HALDEX
NO DIM MODULE
NO PRESSURE SENSOR

The dyno is Sunday 20th Feb.
I will be dropping the rear wheels on sat 19th.
I'm also hoping I don't run into trouble with the clutch etc and drop oil.
