Radio Question

Just curious, what is that little square receiver thing or whatever it is in between the volume button and memory button? Heres a pic of what im talking about http://www.nod.by/assets/galleries/78/hu613.jpg

Is it supposed to be for a remote? or some kin of light sensor?

That is the IR port for an optional HU remote.
