View Full Version : driver's seat heater doesn't work.

In my 2002 XC, the dash light indicates power is going to the seat, but it never gets warm. Fuses and relays look OK. Any thoughts? If it's a broken wire, any easy access to the seat innards?

Many thanks,

Karl

Nothing at all, even a little heat?

Same thing happens to ours :(. Indicator light works but still no heat. The passenger seat works fine though. Hope its a simple fix!

Could be a break in one of the wires in the heating unit. Only way to tell is to lift the cover and see if you can see a burned spot in the unit. Pretty much a PITA if it is anything like doing an 850 seat.

Good luck,

Bill

I agree with Bill. When I first got my XC the drivers seat would not heat up. Turned out to be a break in the element of the heating pad; lucky for me it was covered under warranty.

I have the same problem on my 2002 XC and have suffered through the last two winters with no driver side seat heater. Please keep us posted on your findings. Where do you buy a new heating pad? This must be a dealer part, correct?

I don't know if it is the same in the XC, but my old 850 had this problem twice. Both times it was a broken wire on the thermostat. It was a relatively easy fix by pulling the thermostat out of the seat foam (underneath near the back) and soldering the wires back on.
