Hi All,

First post:

I just bought a 1998 V70xc. Very happy so far, PO put a bunch of $$ into repairs so I ma hoping for the best. I have a few questions for the group:

1) I have a IPD boost gauge on the A pillar. It does not seem to ever go above 5 psi. Is this normal? could the gauge be out of alignment? apparently it was installed along with a IPD HD turbo reg, possible there is an issue? Car certainly seems like it is not down on power...

2) Neither front fog light is working. Fuse is OK. what should I look at next?

3) Neither heated seat is working (no light on the switch when pressed either) fuse is ok, where should I look next?

4) Rear passenger interior lights don't come on when the door is opened. played with the switch but no go. any ideas?

thanks for the help all, looks like a great community and hopefully I will be able to add something down the line.

Cheers!

Your 1998 is a low-pressure turbo and I believe it can't put out more than 8 psi of boost, your reading of 5 or so doesn't sound out of whack.

I would check the leads going into the fog lights themselves, are you getting power to the lights?

Ditto the seat heaters, you can find the connection under the seat, are they getting power? If the light isn't lighting up, perhaps the switch is bad, you could pull it and check for continuity.

1.) Call IPD and get their opinion. They can tell you how much boost you should be seeing....they will know the answer exactly and can tell you what to look for on potential installation issues. They will be happy to help you.......

2.) Check to see if the bulbs are good! It is not unusual for them both to be blown out. Are you high beams on when you are checking? If so the lights won't go on. Climb under and check the wiring and connectors. Look carefully and look for corrosion etc.

3.) Check the switches on the heated seats. I would pop out the switch in the console and put a 12v tester in the connector and see if you are getting power. If you are getting power there, check at the connector to the seat with the switch reattached. If no, bad switch, if yes, bad heater. Double check the fuses. There are a set under the hood and in the dash. Double check every fuse, even the ones that don't make sense that they would affect the seats (or lights). Sometimes things are wonky....Given the age of the car it is entirely possible that the heaters are bad. They do wear out and wires crack and break over time.

4.)Check the bulb!!!! (and the fuses when you are checking them for everything else). again, pull down the light box and disconnect the connector and see if it is getting power. If not, search on my user name and look at the post on fixing the wiring harness in the hatch. That is probably it....If there is power to the harness and the bulb is good then it is the switch....

Good Luck

Hi All,

1) I have a IPD boost gauge on the A pillar. It does not seem to ever go above 5 psi. Is this normal? could the gauge be out of alignment? apparently it was installed along with a IPD HD turbo reg, possible there is an issue? Car certainly seems like it is not down on power...

Pretty close, I think an LPT is 6-7 lbs stock
. You may be off a hair, but if so, not by much2)

Neither front fog light is working. Fuse is OK. what should I look at next?

Get underneath and look at the connectors from the wire to the housing. They break, they rust, and all sorts of nasty things but the first thing would be to remove the bulbs to see if they're blown!

3) Neither heated seat is working (no light on the switch when pressed either) fuse is ok, where should I look next?

You may have a combination of things, bad switch, loose connector, etc

4) Rear passenger interior lights don't come on when the door is opened. played with the switch but no go. any ideas?

Well the first thing would be to change the bulb!

Cheers!

Hi all,

Quick update:

Fog light bulbs were burnt out. New bulbs and they work great!

Heated seat connectors were loose, pulled the switch out, plugged them back in, and they work great!

Rear interior lights had broken rocker switchs. Bent the contacts so they are perminatly in the 'door' position, and they work great!

Thanks forbthe tip on calling IPD, it's on my list for today.

Thanks for the help,

Blair
