Front Axle Seal - Transmission Fluid Leak? Pics attached

I have a persistent transmission fluid leak which looks like it is coming from where the Front Axle slides in on the drivers side. Below are pictures (attachments I think) of where the leak appears to be coming from. I am trying to figure out whether the axle needs replacing or whether there is a simple seal that has gone bad or if there is transmission fluid leaking from somewhere and just showing up here...

I have looked pretty carefully and this is the only place I can see the leak.

Any suggestions would be appreciated....

Probably just the seal. I have however seen the differential carrier bearings wear on an 850 that allowed the axle to move slightly in the seal & allow it to leak. That I imagine is very rare though.
