Fuel door / Central locking system

I am having quite the problem and I am looking for an answer!
When I try to open the fuel door with the switch on the drivers door, the central locking system activates and locks all doors as if I used the remote or the lock switch on the door. As there is no emergency fuel door release, I had to have the dealer break into the fuel door so I can still use the car. The central locking system works fine and locks/unlocks the doors as it should, just shouldn't lock when I try to open the fuel door. Any suggestions or anyone else have this happen?

Maybe a long-shot, but, assuming you still have the original Volvo system fitted, I have had a problem with random workings of the system. Try locking the front door using the key in the lock. Wait a few seconds and try unlocking with the key again.

I had an issue where the fuel door wouldn't work at all, turned out the front passenger door lock switch was between positions. Once I moved the switch to each position, it worked fine. Something to try anyhow.
