Lastnight I bolted one of my old 850's 15" steel rims on the 01 XC. I tried it on the front and it just cleared the brakes, but didn't rub and bolted up fine.
So I think I am going to use those rims for mounting winter tires.

Anybody have an idea of what the tallest 15" tire I oculd run on an XC? narrow as good as well, im just unsure what the limits are.

thanks

what ever size U get just make sure the overall diameter is 27".

I measured the diameter of my current tires "215/65 R16" and got 25 3/4" inch diameter. This is with the weight of the car on them mind you.
It looks like possibly a 27.5" or 28" tire would fit, but possibly be the limit.

also I suppose there is always a diameter difference from one manufacturer to an another.

Check out uscg70's setup in the thread below. He's running on 215/75/15 BF Goodrich mud terrains without any issues.

thanks art, that is great information. 215 65 R15 looks great on the xc in my opinion. I am going to look for something in that size, but studdable.
Should work good for hauling snowmobiles this winter.

I'll post a few pictures once I have something figured out and installed.

Hi, just joined!
Try the general grabber at2 range, similar to the bfg's, cheaper, get great reviews, come in massive range of sizes and I'm pretty sure they are studable?

I'm booked in to get a set fitted tomorrow on my 16" wheels, will let you know how it goes.

Cheers k
