Please dont flame - I was reading over on the VW syncro groups about some have removed their viscous coupling. The consider it a "wearable" part and is too expensive. Is this possible with the XC's Seems like you would have to change the driveshaft.

Just a thought.

i have xc70 FWD myself and it's not even 2011 model :)

Mine is a working awd - but thought about having more drive to the rear weals - if you could not rely on the VC, you would have to probably have to have another carrier bearing and a short stub driveshaft - you would not want to have too long a shaft. The you would be in 4wd all the time - it would hurt mileage but I bet it would be a huge off road improvement.
