P2 Headlight exchange compatibility guide

I would like to make a thread to confirm what headlight assemblies are compatible with others on the P2 platform.

Years 2001-2007
Please correct me as we go along so I can edit this post.

S60 V70 XC70 2001-2004

I know some of you have done this already (ifnt420) and I believe some wire work will be needed to connect the 05+ lights to pre 05 cars.

These light assemblies WILL NOT FIT.
V40 V50 any year
S60 V70 XC70 2008+

Not sure about S80 assemblies.

The R headlights' lens are made from glass i think, Also my my04 XC has glass lens and bi-xenon...

I will try to get a picture of mine and post it, it looks exactly like an R but inside is black instead of silver... and the R glass on the one you posted is definitely glass. Volvo doesn't sell the lens separately but i think George sells them, although they are from euro headlight and the pattern on the side are slightly different.

Perhaps Euro/USA/AUS have their own glass or plastic varients

Yeah, all MY02~MY04 Bixenons are glass lens.
Only difference is bezel color, R gets the silver and the rest gets black. [thumbup]

THe 2006-2007 Bi-xenon lights with the projector assembly (last picture from the first post) are actually plastic lenses.
