Ok, new guy here so don't flame. I just bought a 2001 XC70. The blower isn't pushing any faster than the lowest speed (pos 1). I can run it all the way up but no change in speed. But if I switch to the left (off) there is a change (no more air at all). The car has 70k on it and I haven't looked yet to see what condition the pollen filter is in. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced these things to just start working with a new filter? Does anyone think it could just need a resistor and can I try or is it even worth it to try just replacing the resistor.
Thanks...

Probably the blower not the resistor but you should change both at the same time...if that's determined to be the problem

I spoke with a tech at Ipd and he indicated that it could be the switch as well. The switch is getting power (all the lights work) but perhaps it is broken??? Is there a diagnostic test I can do to determine which of these parts has failed?
