Hello all--
My '03 XC70 will sometimes (not consistently) have a vibration that one can feel through the floorpan and gas pedal when accelerating at highway speeds. In checking the car, I've noticed that the bushings in both the top and bottom engine mounts on the driver's side can be slid back and forth by hand. I'm assuming that's not normal, but I thought I should ask to see if (1), this does indicate bad/worm engine mounts and (2) this may be the cause of the vibration. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time!

You definitely need to replace those bushings immediately. The top mount is easy to replace, and usually makes the most difference in vibration and harshness. The cross bar that attaches to the top motor mount should wiggle a little, but you should not be able to freely move the mount. You have a couple of options for top mounts; OEM or a higher strength Poly mount. Some people like the poly mount that can be found here (http://www.ipdusa.com/Volvo-V70XC70-2001-2007/Engine/Engine-Mounts/Upper-Engine-Stabilizer-Mount/p-127-379-762-233/); I stick with OEM because I don't like the added vibration. It should also be a good idea to check the lower torque mount for the transmission (http://www.ipdusa.com/Volvo-V70XC70-2001-2007/Engine/Engine-Mounts/Engine-Mounts-&-Subframe-Bushings/p-127-379-762-3319/). Good luck!
