2004 XC70 (7th. out of 8 Volvos)

Drove through HEAVY rainstorm two weeks ago. Got CEL. Shop said that water in wastegate solenoid and it was sticking. Replaced.

This week got "Low Beam Failure". Checked fuses and 11C/1 Low Beam was blown. Replaced and low beams work fine. When going to High Beams, Low Beams rotate up, but no High Beams.

Checked all other fuses. 12vdc to all fuses. Fuses OK.

Since voltage at fuses, relay CM14 should be ok.

Checked dc voltage at connector at High Beam bulb and no voltage. Checked connector 53/301(plugs into headlamp assemby) and 12vdc on lead to High Beam. Replaced bulb. Nothing.

So I figure that we have open circuits in the headlamp assemblies???

Weird that it would be out on both sides. Water in assembly? Why blown Low Beam fuse?

Before I try to tear out and repair the assemblies, does anyone have any troubleshooting ideas??

If I get an assembly out, can I open it and repair/replace any bad wiring??

Thanks - Jim
