Where/Who/How can I get this out of my hair?
2001 XC70

It all happened when the battery went dead and after a charging issue that killed that battery.. 4 hours later car was back to life but alarm triggers randomly when its set and then i receive this error when i start the car..

Have to give KUDOS!!! to the company that built Volvos batteries back then.. The Original battery 9 years later, it was still going strong till this issue..

Use the remote and lock/unlock the car 3 times in a row to reset the UEM.

You have it reversed.
Lock and unlock the car three times WITH THE KEY, NOT THE REMOTE

Did this fix it? I would also guess the alarm module under the fender might have gone bad, my 04 had the same thing happen and that was the code it put out.

It resets a lot of stuff.
Whether it helped the OP or not will be known if he posts back, but doing this DOES reset many primary functions that have gone haywire

thank god for this site... it did the job, it fixed it.. the dealer wanted 150 to diagnose the problem, and would have charged 110 to fix it.. dealerships are more expensive than Dr's bills now a days.. thanks to this website.. I'd be broke without it..
