V70 XC noise

Helllo,

our 2001 v70xc with 100k miles is sounding louder than it used to. mainly,it sounds like the engine. any thouughts on what could be making it so loud?

Probably your front engine mount is shot (right/front side of car, behind the right front inner wheel well).
I would check ALL 5 motor mounts at this mileage.
I would give this a 95% guess that this is your problem

JRL, where are all 5 mounts?
I've been on FCP's page and can only find 4 mounts?
My 03's top mount and bottom "torque rod" are completely shot but I thought I'd change all mounts and possibly the the strut brace mount's as well.
Don't want to miss one!

Not JRL but:

Front and back mounts are the same, one under the starboard end of the engine, torque rod and top.

Yes.
Front (lower right)
Top torque mount
Rear tranny mount
Two hydraulic side mounts (usually OK)

If that front is completely collapsed, the engine will be actually tilting a bit towards the front (right side of car), will be resting on the frame rails and maeks a lot of "rumbling" noises
