I´m not getting my new XC until september but allready now I´m thinking about what wheels to wear  http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/happy.gif

Then I allso saw when reading some magasines that the XC70 is 45 mm wider between the wheels in the front than the ordinary V70. And why is it 12 mm smaller at the rear.

(Perhaps this is common knowledge but as I am new to this forum can someone please explain.)

And how does this affect the choice of big wheels ?

Thanks
Mikael

All wheel drive and 4WD cars always have a wider front track to help the front end do the pulling when it gets slippery. If they did not you would have some adverse handeling situations with the rear trying to swap ends with the front.

You can also look at the alignment of your rear wheels. You will find that they are 'toed in' which is i believe for tracking stability. -Dick

I know that even the Ferrari 456 has this feature.  They said ti was done to offset the weight distribution due to the weight of the engine in the rear.  It actually helps the car handle better!
