Greetings everyone! I've lurked here a few times without posting for info for my FIL's 05' XC70. Yesterday we pulled the trigger and are now proud new owners of a 2006 XC90 Ocean Race Edition! It was very well kept and looks practically brand new.

Are there any gotta have accessories? The only thing that this thing doesn't have that we wished for/need is the DVD entertainment system, and tow package (for our camper). Any recommendations for where to get the tow bar, wiring kit, etc.?

Thanks!

Haven't heard about that one. What's the deal there?

There is a sealed bearing on the V8 balance shaft, if it gets rusted it
can fail and take the engine with it. Yours should have a drain hole, but
who says it cant get plugged or water get in the bearing... Best not
to test your luck.

A dirty V8 is a healthy V8.. :)

Geez... why do I always find out about this stuff the day after I buy something? ;) Anybody report problems on anything but the 05's? I guess that's something to check on the list of routine maintenance. I haven't washed an engine in years since they started putting plastic fairings all over everything. A simple wipe down is all you need usually to keep the engine bay looking good (unless you've got an oil leak of course).

Here are pics of the car if anyone cares...
