I have a saved car search on AutoTrader, '07 silver XC70. When one turns up local for a decent price I'm snatching it up.

Be happy to find you one except 07 XCs with good miles are wholesaling at last year's prices, they have NOT gone down!
I can get you an 08 (same mileage) for about $1500 more

If I wanted a cheap car, I'd have gotten a Toyota (nothing wrong with them).

I knew Volvos were expensive to repair and was under no illusions when I made the purchase. But I've been fortunate to have nothing unusual go wrong with my car. And I'm driving one of the "dreaded" 01's with over 100k miles on the original transmission. My folks own a 06 with over 350,000kms and have had no trouble either.

To answer your question, to date my car represents a good value for the money, and I would make the same decision again. Aside from grudgingly hunting down a SRS sensor fault, I have never once regretted the purchase.

I would buy another one, though I would have to get it for a good price. I love them but could never justify to myself buying one brand new for the price. Plus I am not a fan of the newer model.

I think I lucked out with my XC - I had god access to the vehicle's history (dealership told me everything I wanted to know - even the stuff I didn't want to hear, but needed to), appropriate pricing comparisons and (most important) both my wife and I wanted something that didn't scream "SUV."

So yeah, I'd do it again.

No way I'd touch a POS '08 with a barge pole.

My partner and I recently purchase an '02 XC with 95000 miles. Both of us owned Toyota Corolla's, mine an AWD SR5 91', and hers a 93'. We bought the Volvo for a comfortable, luxurious, AWD wagon, and haven't been disapointed. Nothing against Toyota, but even the premier loaded Venza AWD wagons don't come that close to the feel of a XC.

You know. im actually pretty glad the way the votes are going. we usually hear the bad stuff becuase it is a forum and people ask for help fixing things, so its good to see that people are satisfied with their volvos

I'd snag another one, from JRL. Infact the wife may have an XC90 2.5 in her future from Jim. I had an excelent experience with my 1st one!

The 08 is the new model, the 07 is not?

So the '08 and newer is the new XC70 design vs '01-'07 XC70.

I would surely purchase another XC70, only til '07 though. The '08-newer are not even close to the same car... However my XC70 is getting smaller with every trip I take with my 3 young boys, I'd like a XC90 7-passenger!

Never will own another.I've worked on cars for 20 years both professional and personal.I would cringe every time my wife would come through the door waiting to hear another problem.Biggest was the trans( car was bought with new trans installed, trans was purchased from Tasca in RI and professionally installed)When we got it it had about 2,000 on new trans. The car would drive like a dream for a day then the next would throw you out of your seat shifting first to second. The down shift second to first you thought the front end was falling off.We had it checked for codes and the dealer mechanic said to replace the trans???I flushed it a few time and replaced fluid with Mobil synthetic. That helped a little also added an aftermarket cooler which also helped. All these problems showed up in stop and go driving. The happiest day was depositing the check from the dealer that bought it.I'll stick with my V-8 Explorer with 225k and all original drive line knowing it is going to get me home.To all others I hope your experience is good and you don't have the problems I had, maybe mine was just a bad one.

Same here, just added iMiV classic yesterday. [happy]
Bought it in May at 43.5K, it's 46K now...?
08 XC70 is a SUV.... Although turbo 6 is probably fun to drive..
I'd wish they kept V70 AWD....

If you have the money, you can import a V70 AWD from Europe. We still have them here :)

My '02 xc70 was traded at 175,000miles for an '07 with 11,000 miles so far so good a couple of minor issues with the '02 but none that discouraged me. And both of these have been used to haul my 3500lb boat, the '02 hauled it 700miles from NJ to MA in one shot. great cars.

I just found out today that my '02 needs a new instrument cluster. I'm looking at about $900 in repairs. The transmission is a little funky at times but it's not so bad that it bothers me. But I'd still do it again. I bought the car almost 3 years ago, I drive on gravel/dirt roads as much as asphalt and I've got 250, 000 km on it and it's still rock solid. Everything (else) still works.

The newer generation ('08 on) does not appeal to me at all but I'll likely end up in one someday.
