I'm gearing up for a spring tune up which will include new plugs and air filter. I've noticed IPD sells "Spark Plug Cover Bolts" and I'm thinking 'what an odd item to sell.'

So what's the deal with this? Are the 'spark plug cover bolts' susceptible to damage or is IPD just looking to make a little money? (At $.39 each, they can't be making much from each sale.)

Cheers
Jules

They rust and can look ugly if you're into having a clean engine compartment

For the $$ I would buy em just in case, could drop one into 'cant reach it' territory in the engine compartment.

Like if you drop one in the cylinder when the plug is out, you're going to want a replacement. Motor, that is :D

I dropped another bolt into the radiator fan shroud once - try getting your hand into there . . . .

Yeah. I've got one just like that. Sometimes it is really helpful. Other times, such as when there is steel surrounding the tight space you are fishing in, the magnet grabs on and it's pretty much impossible to get it to go where you need it to. :(

The one pictured was on sale at amazon I think, but I got one from Autozone for about that price.

Those screws are non-magnetic.

Just kidding.
