I have a 2001 xc70 with what I believe is the aw55-50 tranny. Just noticed today while downshifting from 4th to 3rd what I can only describe as a noise that sounded like curley from the 3 stooges, ex. A wirr wirr wirr lol. Only from 4th to 3rd, my mechanic said it sounded like a clutch pack was slipping and thawt if we were gonna replace that, we should just rebuild it. This forum has saved me thousands in work so far and ill b damed if I'm gonna let helga (my xc70's name) go out like this. Thanks in advance for any info
