Hi VXC members,
My father's 2004 XC70's stereo has just begin to give him some problems. The main issue is that the CD player does not appear to be functioning, refusing to play or eject the CD currently in it. The screen reads "CD Error" when he attempts to use the cd controls. I put a new battery in there about half a year ago, so I don't think that's the issue.
I was wondering if there were any possibility of installing an aftermarket head unit in place of this faulty one? It was pretty straight forward on my 850, but they're like lego, but this newer system appears to be of unique shape, etc. so I'm kinda doubtful anything will fit in there. If that isn't an option, I was wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction in regards to finding a replacement, i.e., which years and model's HUs can be swapped into an '04 XC70? I'm gonna swap cars and likely take his into a car stereo specialist and see what they say, but would like to hear your guys' opinions before I do that, so I'm not walking in completely clueless.
Any advice or information in regards to this problem would be very much appreciated by us!
