If you opened the door, why is your tach up?

And that is absolutely insanely hot. Got us beat by 60 degrees!

Does your engine temp still stay at the halfway mark?

I opened to door to get some more light on the dash.
The tach is up because i revved the engine to chill the aircon faster. - the car was stationary.
Car temp is normal

Good grief

Is that stabilized air temp or are you picking up off hot pavement as well. The whole ability to fry an egg I suppose.

Try and stay cool[cool2]

Your A/C unit depends on air flow over the readiaitor and to some extant coolant flow thru the radiator. The aux fan is electric for air flow and revving the engine will not gain you anything and I doubt that the increased fluid flow is helping because at the same time you are producing more engine heat and in fact may be hindering your efforts. The vehicle A/C system is designed to cool at a stand still without revving the engine and that is how you should use the vechicle, just let it do its thing.
The 50C you see may be a reflection of the engine temperature because the vehicle is motionless. What was the true outside temp?-Dick

You need to be down here in the "Banana Belt". Its a balmy +2C today with about 40cm of snow on the ground and more coming tomorrow.

Cheers,

Bill

Man that's friggin' hot! It seems as if we all have our own test proving grounds…from extreme heat to bone-chilling temps. It was a record breaking -40 C (sans wind chill) in Edmonton just a couple of weeks ago. Here in Central Alberta, we've actually managed to climb back to a relatively balmy -7 C today, just warm enough to put a new roof on the house. :D

We just concluded our third day over 41 degrees (thank god)
This was in Perth-Western Australia, in the middle of our hot summer.
All I can say is the trusty XC handled it very well. The temp gauge didn't budge past normal [thumbup]

I just found out (after speaking to my Volvo guru mechanic) that the temp guage stops displaying temps at 60. From there it simply says "HOT"

Other people have recorded temps in the 70's - however their sensors were bent inwards and were being affected by the radiator.

Yeah, who cares for an exact number after a while. Wonder if it just says "COLD" after a bit, too. I kind of prefer the "HOLY SH&T, ITS (fill in the appropriate "hot" or "cold")" for extreme temperatures. I'd probably change the limits too. Say +35C and -15C.

Cheers,

Bill
