I recently looked at the 2009 Consumer Reports annual auto issue, and in particular for info on my 2003 Volvo XC70. I was happy to see that the auto trans was rated "average" for major repairs, but "below average" for minor repairs. So, what is a "minor" transmission repair?

B4 servo, software update, torque mount bracket?

How about that $300 ATF flush at the dealer? Maybe the price is steep enough to call it a minor repair instead of maintenance? Just kidding :)

I wonder what the rating is for the trannys of Camrys of the same years? I was on a Camry forum the other day and it sounds like there have been problems with the Camry's iteration of the 50-55. For that matter, how do the other variations of the same tranny as used in SAABs, Saturns, etc rate? Not that it change anything other than misery loves company perhaps.

Cheers,

Bill
