View Full Version : '03 Driver side front window glass cracked

I rolled down the driver side front window glass the other day, and heard some suspicious cracking. I quickly sent the window back up, and then tried it back down again. More cracking, now the glass is spider webbed and I need a replacement. I am having a hard time finding '03 glass, with the factory tint. Any suggestions, or any help. Since I got this car 6 months ago, I feel it has been under a curse. :(

Yeah, I got that. Still having trouble finding any replacement glass. Trying to avoid the dealer.

Shortly after moving here we were broken into. Several glass companies had replacements. The one we went with matches perfectly as far as I can tell. You should not have trouble finding a replacement.

Its from a 05 S60R so it should be the right glass ?

No, it is tempered. Windshields are laminated, other windows are tempered. Look at them with polarized sunglasses.

The factory glass shattered like tempered, did not stay together like laminated. Both the replacement and the other side glass have the code AS2. The windshield says AS1.

My replacement is Herculite. The factory glass is made by Pilkington. You can find Pilkington at glass shops as well (my replacement windshield is Pilkington)


When I said "matches perfectly ..." I was referring to the tint because the OP was concerned about the tint.

Odd....mine are all laminated (won't shatter) in order to provide the utmost in strength for side curtain airbag deployment.

I just checked the door glass on my '04. FWIW they all clearly say "LAMINATED".
