I'm kind of new to Volvo. I'm looking for a good repair shop in the Fort Collins area and want to avoid the dealer because dealers always charge a high price on everything. A friend reccomended Carl Duke Volvo. Anyone ever use him or know about his shop? Many thanks!

First off, let me say that Pedersen is really good as dealers go. The prices are high but they try to stay lower than Denver dealers. When I was there a few years ago they were at $85 an hour when McDonald and Sill - Terhar were at 100 or more.

Carl Duke on south College has a good reputation and has been around for a long time. I only had one repair done there, new struts and some suspension replacements. Their price was lower than Pedersen but really not that much. They did not use new upper parts (forget if it was a nut or what) whereas Pedersen does replace that part.

If you ask Volvo drivers they should have more experience with Duke than I have.
