Hi Everyone, I thought it might be interesting to find out the kind of people who own the new Volvo XC70's. I live in Oklahoma City (in case you didn't figure it out from my "handle") and there aren't too many XC70s on the roads here.
I recently retired from the US Air Force after 20 yrs as an Air Battle Manager, most of the time spent running the radar on AWACS. Now I'm a courseware editor. I am the primary driver of the XC and I happen to be a housewife as well. You?

I live in Barcelona (Spain). I bought the XC70 III 3.2en June 2008 and now I'm happy with it. I use it mainly for weekend and holiday with family. Working as an engineer in a firm water supply. I think it's a good car in general. The only thing I dont like is the fuel consumption and is a bit lazy. Forgive me for my English. Greetings

Cool! I'm just a student in college, but I'm in my second year of Air Force ROTC. Thinking about going into Security Forces, Pilot, among other things I can't decide!

Research biophysicist - actually part-time, as I'm raising three children and this arrangement offers a balance. The 2008 is actually my second XC70. I still have my 1998 model. Yes, I have been foolhardy enough to buy the first model year of the XC70 AND the first year of a major redesign. Nothing's perfect, but I'm pretty happy, overall, with both.

Nothing super sexy for myself, I'm a Chartered Accountant, which is the same as a CPA in the US. I do have an interest in computers and the IT system at work too, I suppose.

I'm an Architect, but I have a 2001 XC, not "the new model". Love the 'functionality' of the car. :P

We just picked up our FIRST Volvo in Goteborg on Friday. Ruby Red XC70 with beige interior. We put 996 miles driving it back to our temporary home in Germany (by way of Copenhagen and Berlin). We're both in the Army, but I'm transitioning to the Reserves in Feb while he finishes the active duty route. We'll be at Ft. Leavenworth, KS in Jan.

I think it's ironic that I buy my first new car as I'm getting ready to stop working full-time. Not sure if that's a smart move, but I had a 1995 Audi A6 Quattro German-Spec, so I needed something and have ALWAYS drooled over the XC70. We love it so far!

Happily 'Retired' very glad to be out of 'The Rat Race' [thumbup]

Have had Volvos for around 40 Years, so I just hope that the reliability of our 2008 XC70 'Lux' will provide us with the ability to do the touring that we have planned in the next 3 years:
Arctic Circle Tour (Scandinavia). European Tour (8 Countries)
Tour of UK places never seen or been to, & I live there!
As well as annual Winter trip to Spain/Portugal.

Our previous V70 TDI performed excellently for 10 Years and never missed a beat.[thumbup]
