Does anyone know of any differences between the 2.4 and 2.5 engine besides 100 ml of space in the cylinders? I tried looking on the net but nothing really pops up. Just curious as I've got the 2.4 and was wondering why they even bothered making a difference in these engines...

Horsepower!!......displacement is everything!! (Actually torque is :)).

2.4T has variable valve timing (Volvo calls CVVT) on the exhaust. 2.5T has it on both intake and exhaust.

I guess that probably means even wider torque band?

None turbo 2.4 has CVVT on the intake.

I'm not a big fan of the 2.5, and would probably prefer the 2.4 (I've only driven the 2.4 a few times, though). I know the 2.5 has power and torque, but it certainly is not smooth; I think there's something about a 5 cylinder that just seems to fire and vibrate oddly (nice play on words). I had a 2.8l 6 cylinder S80 before my kid trashed it, and although it didn't have the brute torque of the 2.5, it was so smooooth and truly a pleasure to drive . . .

Unless I am missing something, isn't the 2.4 engine also a 5 cylinder?

other then thiner cylinder walls thats about it .

granted the dual dual vvt compared to just the exhuast vvt

but I would take a 2.3 with no VVT every day of the week :D good up to 700hp with just some rods :D
