Autodimming Mirror

My 01XC's rearview mirror no longer auto-dims, there is no manual override other than turnign it face down and doing without.

Is there a simple fix [fuse, etc] to check or is this another overly complicated Volvo electronics failure?

It's another overly complicated Volvo electronics failure. There is no fix that I have found (mine doesn't auto dim either). Mirrors cannot be switched out without matching the new mirror to the car's computer, a procedure that requires the VIDA interface. I think Howard's site has information on taking the mirror off and extracting the electronics, but I haven't really investigated the source of my problem.
