2008/2009 XC70 wheel Australia

I have a 2009 XC70 diesel and am preparing to drive across Australia including some remote areas. I intend to take a full size spare instead of the space saver. Volvo Australia want a ridiculous amount of money for a wheel and tyre. The car is fitted with standard 17 inch alloys including 235/55R 17 Pirelli Scorpian tyres.
Any ideas? Do other wheels fit?

Perhaps the local tyre/wheel shop could provide a steel wheel of similar specification that fits? Let me know how you sort it out, becuase this is relevant to any of us who want to wander deep into the country.

Ian, I didn't even know I only had a space-saver tyre until reading this post!
Anyway I can't help you with your question - sorry - but do you know if the full size tyre fits in the space the space-saver tyre does? It looks like it might and I wondered if you had tried or know.

What sort of trip you planning anyway? I'm dreaming of heading east across the nullabor and driving around the mountains in the east.
