Is anybody running on Michelin Harmony 215/65R16 98S? I heard good comments but it' mostly the S rated that I'm concerned. We mostly do city driving with the car and on the highway we are not very fast(115-120km/h).

thanks for opinion and experience

I don't know what S rating means (could you educate me/us?), but I just changed out the Pirelli Scorpians (after >40K miles) for the Mich. Harmony. I never really had any issues with the Scorps as some here (seemed good all-weather tire), and in fact, the Harmony actually seems more noisy. But, I'm still breaking these shoes in, and maybe I have more inflation in the Harmony at the moment.

98S, the S is for the speed limit, wich is 180 km/h (118 mph) that the tire can go. Scorpion STR are rated V, for 240 km/h

Why not consider winter and summer tires, they can give far better results than al-season tires.

Hi Pascal...as per my PM to you, I've been running Harmony's on the XC and the Passat that I use for work. No issues at all, good wet weather handling and not noisy for me.

Plus, awesome high mileage rating. I'm sure on the Passat I have like 60-80K kms on them and they are probably good for another 2 seasons.

S rating = up to 180km/h
H rating = up to 210 km/h
V rating = up to 240 km/h

The original (OEM) Pirelli ST are H rated, the STR are V rated.

I run Michelin Latitudes [H rated] in the standard size [215/65-16] and find them fantastic compared to the STR's - much quieter, much better roadholding, much more responsive and better control.

Note that the XC is specified for at least H rated tyres - going below H rated tyres may impact insurance validity. DO NOT FIT S RATED TYRES!!

I don't think I believe that!!!! If one doesn't drive fast, or up to the speed ratings, I fail to see what kind of affect that would have on insurance:confused::confused::confused: I have S rated tires on mine, but I don't drive up to 180 km/hr. I have no need to do that, so I buy tires I can afford.

Dave.

I bought today a set of Michelin Harmony 215/65R16 98S , I heard good comments about those tires and we almost do only city driving with the car, so that's why I don't believe I need V or H rated tires. My winter tires TOYO Observe are rated T (up to 190km/h) and never had any issue this winter and the handling is OK for winter tires.
