Remove rubber cup holder inserts from center console?

Does anyone know how to remove rubber cup holder inserts from center console? Mine are kinda ratty looking so I thought I might remove them entirely to freshen up the center console a little. I can seem to figure out how to pry anything apart without feeling like I am going to break something. A search of the site has left me empty handed also. Any help is appreciated.

if i remember right from my parents s80 i think the inserts pop right out.
fold the edges in a little to grab a hold and yank that sucker out

The outer collar does snap in so be careful as you remove it. The rubber part seperates from the rest of the holder ring, once removed. I broke a little inner clip but it still managed to pop in fine.
