Heating of rear-side window

Can anyone give me a hint to, what that left side rear window heating system on the XC is all about?
I can understand the rear window heating is for, but left side rear, and why not the right side?

There's no defog on the rear left side window since you cannot see out that window as a driver.

The lines on the rear left window are your radio's antenna.
