With spring just around the corner, we decided get away from the prairie snow and take a chance on B.C.'s Wet Coast.

The drive along the TC highway outside of Lake Louise, Alberta.

Driving conditions don't improve much on the Coquihalla Hwy

More snow along the Pacific Rim Hwy #4 towards the Tofino/Ucluelet Junction. A cruel introduction on the first day of spring. :(

Arrival at Toquart Bay outside of Ucluelet, B.C. Much to our delight, the sun came out the following day which made for some epic paddling conditions. :D

To minimize heat loss, a California sea lion sticks its fins out of the water.

Pit stop on David Island in Macoah Passage. My wife pauses to take a pic of an eagle resting on a nearby rock outcrop.

Three's a crowd. We came across this unusual standoff on this sea lion haulout near Larkin's Islet.

Photo opp along Toquart Bay logging road with Kennedy Lake backdrop. T'was a great day of paddling.

Naturally, a trip to Pacific Rim National Park would not be the same without a visit to Long Beach.

Nice on Art!

Haven't been to Tofino in almost 6 months now and getting really jealous in seeing your pics :)

The handcrafted boat looks great out there too... Congrats again!

Just to let you know Marco, I was rootin' for the eagles. ;)

We were thinking about you during the entire time as we watched the few brave souls out there floating around in the surf. Sure hope that you get out there soon enough Taylor. :)

Art and Sai - What a great set of pictures. Today is April 1st and we have had another dusting of snow in Calgary - adding to the foot we received on the weekend. It was great to view your pictures going to Vancouver Island - particularly as I could recognize a bunch of the places along the highway in Alberta and BC.

Faye is off to New Zealand for a month of touring with Steph while I remain in Caglary with the trusty Volvo. It's seen a few kilometers this winter getting up into the Rockies and keeps running like at trooper.[thumbup]

Guess it won't be too long before we emulate your trip to the Island and check-up on the house on Pender which remains under construction (some things never end in BC)!

Thanks John;

Just to let you know, we slogged through those same snow flurries that blew through last night during a very late run to the Calgary airport. Just think...by mid May we should be out of the woods as far as severe weather goes. ;)

Chin up on the Pender reno. :)
