Neat job - and I don't normally like non-manufacturer additions.

Did you have to loose the cubby or was that just a limitation of the replacement faceplate?

Great job! [thumbup]

Did you get steering wheel controls to work too? If so, which adapter did you get?

I had to lose the cubby, but I am thinking I can get in there and fab a new one. But that will be a summer project for me!

Thank you! Right now the steering wheel controls do not work, but I am looking into buying one online from a company that makes them for all different types of cars. I saw the link on swedespeed but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

So, did you get controls on the steering wheel to work?
Where did you get the faceplate? Did it come with the Pioneer unit?
I was looking for a replacement of HU-650 for my 07' XC70 on Crutchfield, it says "some manufacutring required", I guess they do not have a faceplate to fit the XC70??

This looks great!

I'm researching and gathering all the items I will need for a similar installation (lower end, no Nav Pioneer AVH P4200DVD. I was wondering if there was a link on how to remove the old head unit?

Also all the dash kits refer to the double din as 2005-2007 but my dash looks like yours and yet I have an 2004, any issues with this? I currently have the HU 613

Any words of advise before I start out on this task?

It never ceases to amaze me how these nice 2din units don't come with cup holder. I would be over one like a rash if they did.
Excellent job anyways Noob!

Thanks man! I never had a cupholder anyway with the stock one though.

Very clean and nice!

I am holding out for an android compatible unit like Alpine has for the Ipod. In the meantime I'm putting in the Grom unit to hold me over.

hey goldxc70 - nice work!

I am looking to do a similar install on my 2006 xc70....

what double-din kit did you use? Where did you get it?

Also - I have been poking around a bit, but haven't been able to figure out how the paneling comes off so I can get to the radio. Can you provide some info?

Thanks
