I want to know what is going to happen if I disconnect my battery. What do I have to reset, or do, to have everything working again? ie homelink, sunroof, radio, seat memory, door locks, etc. etc. I tried other threads, no real difinitive answer, just pieces. Thanks MY 02

Just click lock+unlock with your door switch or remote. Set the clock again and you are all done :)
Oh and remember to turn everything off on your ECC, wait 10min before disconnect the battery. When reconnect, make sure key is in position II before reattach negative terminal.

Thats it? seems rather simple. Good thing I guess, but why do some have issues with sunroofs etc, or are they other MY's? The radio even stays set? It's not that I don't believe you. Turn everything off on your ECC? What do you mean?

There are lots of software electronics in this car. This unfortunately means none of us has any insight to exact how it works without the software source code. Keep this in mind as everything I say is collected from reading what people have done and my own experience.
Upper cabin electronics consist of few things including the sunroof and homelink. This subsystem is initialized correctly with other subsystems when you lock/unlock car. Apparently, reconnect the battery doesn't always init properly. I know it seems unrelated but that how it works on this car. I have to do door lock/unlock everytime on my 01 V70 T5.
I have also had my car feel more powerful after a battery disconnect. I guess whatever performance reducing engine map it has learned got erased. Had this result about 3+ years ago before Volvo had figured out how to solve the 01 ETM failures.
ECC is Electronic Climate Control. People have fried this unit by the simple act of dis/reconnecting the battery. Here are more pointers for info. Read "Electronic Climate Control Not Working" and "Sunroof and Homelink doesn't work" in this link

Then read "Dis/Reconnect battery" in this link

If you are uncomfortable doing this after you read all this. Take it to a dealer. Good luck.

I just replaced the battery in my 01 this weekend with a brand new Bosch unit from Pep Boys. No troubles in the least! Just like switching out a battery in a regular car except this one is in the back. I did have a little trouble finding a vented battery but it really wasnt that big of a deal!
