Long Distance Towing Advice?

Im glad that i have found this forum dedicated for XC fans...i have recently purchased a 2001 V70 XC and so far im loving it...

in couple of months i will move to calgary and i decided to drive there ( 4000 kms - 2500 miles from here )

the xc has the original towing hitch and wiring..i have never towed a trailer before and i have read a lot of tranny problems on v70's from various other volvo forums..
I need advice of how to prepare the car for this long distance towing trailer trip to calgary...

so far i've been adviced to put synthetic oil for engine cooling and installing an aftermarket transmission cooler for transmission cooling...

i never abuse my cars and especially for a trip like this i will be very easy with acceleration and braking...

i just dont know if i can rely on my XC for a trip like this yet...i only have it for 2 months and so far i have only gone 2 long distance trips which were around 500 miles each...very comfortable....

my XC has 100k miles on it right now and im planning to tow a 5x8 Uhaul trailer with a combined weight of approx. 2000 lbs (trailer is 900 lbs itself)

please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions...and also i am curious about this transmission cooler too,,,have anyone tried it?

Make every action way before its needed. Genlty and smoothly - with any directional or speed changes. Stay out of the turbo. Flush your tranny b4 you go if your concered. Let me know how that cooler works out for you.

I tow quite often, and have considered one a few times.
