today.. VOLVO extended the engine software warranty

I got a letter indicating they were getting a false engine light.. and codes indicating gasoline was escaping into the atmosphere...

they indicated because of this false light they were extending the engine SOFTWARE warranty for ...perhaps till 120k miles... (I do not have the form in front of me)..

THis seems a bit lame.. If the software is the problem... just re-flash it on all the cars...

but instead they are only doing it on cars where the problem shows up...

ANYONE HAVE ANY SOLID INFO ON THIS???
