Rocky Mountain National Park & The Peak to Peak Hwy
Well, it is middle of august and we got some crazy weather here in the mile high.
One day its 95 and sunny. The next day its 55, raining, and in the mountains its 30 or colder and snowing. http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif
I wanted a piece of that snow action early so I went to the park on saturday the 16th.
The park rangers closed the road through the park way lower than usual, but i still got some pics of the moutains and the mountain car.
Went off a side road that turns into Old Fall River Road (also closed), a one way gravel road to the top of Trail Ridge.

Back on the main road a few curves from where it was closed, looking to the north.

These last 3 are off of whats called the peak to peak hwy.
Heres a nice shot of 3 of our most notable moutains of the area
From left to right: Mt Meeker, Long's Peak, & Mt Lady Washington
Whats crazy fun is that I was on Long's Peak 3 weeks ago and there was no snow on the top.

Hopefully in the next few weeks the road will open and i can get all the way to the top and take more pics of the new snow.
