steering wheel noise

Hello all, noticed a new rubbing nosie coming from steering wheel. When the tilt is at the bottom, the noise does not happen. As the wheel is raised, the noise gets worse at each higher setting. The noise seems to happen more turning left and does seem to get less during longer rides. 02 xc 76k.

Take a look at the plastic steering column cover that butts up against the steering wheel. Plastic maybe warped and only rubs on wheel on certain turns. Grab the cover and try to duplicate the noise.
