Here is my dilemma. I got a complete set of 2001 XC wheels and I'd like the wheels to fit the Volvo 240. I realize that with tire, the wheel is too large and the 240 might not have enough well-space for them. However, due to a possible low profile tire, I might be able to mount tires on the XC rims so it might fit the car. My biggest concern is bolt pattern. Anybody know if these can work on a 240?

Give it a try can't hurt to see if they line up...

Not even close
Different bolt pattern, different offset, different everything
it will NOT fit
You cannot put a FWD wheel on a RWD car

It will definitely work, both are 5x108 bolt pattern, you are okay on the front, but the rear will tuck under since the offset is for FWD; if you want it to be flush with the fender you'll have to get some spacers.

Here's a 240 with S60T5 Tethys wheels. [thumbup]

Well, I pulled the Virgo wheel off on the front and tried the XC70 wheel. With the scorpion tire, I noticed it rubbed up against the spring/shock lower assembly, the plate. Though my mechanic told me, bolt pattern is fine, it does not appear to fit.

I stand corrected about the bolt pattern, you will need at least a 20mm (or more) spacer and longer lugs

That tire would also be the wrong size

The original Scorpie is 215/65R16 which has a radius of 13.5", a diameter of 27", and a circumference of 84.8'. The OEM tire for the 240 is 185/70R14. It's radius is 12", diameter of 24.2", and a circumference of 76.0". That's a 11% smaller tire than the XC70 - and it won't fit.

Tire size Options:
- 215/50R16* performance oriented
- 205/50R16* ideal
- 195/55R16* ideal
- 225/45R16* fat, wide, low tires. inside width could be an issue.

You could put 225/45R16's on the back, and 205/50R16's on the front.:D that's the pimpin-former-civic-owner in me from 10 years ago. Back in 92, i had my Civic lowered, wide-rimmed, tuned to the n-th degree (no nitro though). Having a RWD car lets you do this... but it's not very practical. If your after saving $$$, I'd find the size that is most common and go with those (being the 205 and 195 sizes).

1010Tires has a neat offset calculator here: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp - you'll need to figure out the offset by simply mearuring the current width of the OEM 240 rim and the OEM XC70 rim, plus the distance in millimeters from the centre of the rims to its inside face. Someone here may know both for the 240 and the XC70 rims.
