hi all,

this is my first post in this forum and I have a question to ask. I own a 2002 v70 xc to sale right now, and I post an ad on autotrader.com, with listing price at $14,900.

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=p&car_id=244465476&dealer_id=62597399&car_year=2002&model=XC&num_records=25&systime=&make2=&start_year=2002&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=25&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&make=VOLVO&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=14500&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=02138&advanced=&end_year=2009&doors=&transmission=&max_price=15000&cardist=0

The car is well-kept, in excellent condition. I referred to both KBB and Edmunds and think that $14,900 is the fair price for the greatest wagon in the world. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten any call yet.

What's the fairest price for it? Does anyone by anychance know a better place to sell this car?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Put your car on Craigs list. Free add and more people look at that everyday. Craigslist.com.

Good Luck,

When did you post your ad? I am trying to sell a clean Odyssey (to take advantage of current great deals on a new one). Guess what, slim pickens. I suspect it will be a zero-sum game--great deals for buyers-crappy for sellers. I have not yet considered trade in as I assume to be low-balled, but perhaps I'm wrong.

I'd sell it on Ebay. The definition of "fair price" is what people out there in the world are willing to pay for your car, cash in hand. It's got nothing to do with what you feel the car is worth... even if it is "the best wagon" in your mind.

Ebay recently sold a clean 2002 XC70 fairly near you in Topsfield Massachusets. After 35 bids, the car sold for $9,602. 67,500 miles. (LOW miles).

So you're asking $5,000 above the market. It seems pretty clear why nobody would be calling you. I suggest you ask $9500 and you will probably get a buyer. Or, you can keep it yourself. Good luck! [thumbup]

Craigslist and this forum would be my first (no/low cost) choices as well as a notice on the car itself, then Ebay and/or Autotrader. There are a lot of really good deals out there now on new cars at really low interest rates or off-lease used cars. Also, MY02 is not considered a good year (according to others on this forum). Good luck!

I looked at the pix you posted of the car and given your asking price, expected to see an XC in pristine condition. For the $ you are asking, the car should have no scratches on the bumper, body, etc. It's appropriate that you pointed them out, though.

I MAY be getting one with 95000 miles, a new transmission and always faithfuly serviced.
IF I do, you can have it for about $9800
Java Brown with two tone, dark brown and taupe leather, (stunning)!
let me know if you're interested

Hi, FYI I just bought a one-owner 2002 dark red with only 29,700 miles on it for $14000 (+tax and registration about $1100 +3 years/36,000 miles gold extanded warranty $1800) from a Toyota dealer in Santa Monica, Calif. It was a trade-in local car with a clean carfax report. I'm not sure it was the deal of the century but I have been looking for a while at those car, few years actually on craigs list, autotrader, etc. and only now I started to see some around $15,000. When you buy from a dealer normally price is higher so I think if I would have seen yours between $11,500-13,500 (considering the mileage and few scratches) in my area I would have considering seriously buying it. I, like many other people, would never buy a car on eBay, so if you post it on craigslist you should be able to make a fair $$ from a local buyer. I hope this helps.

Good luck.
