Would a 1 1/4 inch square hitch receiver be strong enough to support a 4 bike rack or would it bend the car frame, etc?? Thanks.

I would go with a 2 inch hitch.

Four bikes and a rack should be less than 200 pounds so it really shouldn't matter. I have a 1 1/4" receiver and the rack rides fine. Just match the receiver to the rack. No reason to get a 2" receiver to carry a 1 1/4" rack with an adaptor.

The bigger question is do you really WANT to carry 4 bikes on a rear rack? It can be a challange to get 4 bikes on a hitch-mounted 4 bike rack, much less without scratching the heck out of them! Roof mounting, if you can reach it, just works so much better.

Keep in mind, with these hitches the mounting points are the same. a 2 inch isn't really stronger than a 1 1/4.

Could you tell me the manufacturer of this 1 1/4 inch receiver (and part number if possible)? Much appreciated.

Both Thule and Yakima have several models in this category. We have a Thule Expressway we have been happy with. I wish I had gone the extra dollars for the model that swings clear of the tailgate while loaded with bikes though. Both companies have a model like that.

I used the Hidden Hitch 90804 http://www.etrailer.com/pc-H~90804.htm?vehicleid=20056926. Installation instructions are here: http://www.etrailer.com/instructions.aspx?pn=90804.

I purchased it from eTrailer.com but seem to recall that I had a 20% code.

I don't know if this will work but here's a picture:
