Hi,
When I took some time inspecting my car, I noticed that many parts come from different countries.
This is what I found at first glance:
- Sweden (of course)
- France (airbox)
- Italy (tyres)
- Spain (tubes)
- Germany (steering)
- US (carpets)
- Poland (radiator, lights)
- Norway (can't remember what it was)
I suppose ther will be may others http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif

Hello roncar,
Is it the manual or the auto transmission you refer to?
I also read somewhere that the turbo is from Mitsubishi.
In the mean time I also found a tube labeled as made in the EU. A bit vague isn't it!

Didn't Volvo switch away from the Mitsubishi Tanny? I was under the impression that they were only in the S/V40 now...
Curious...

Automatic trasmission. Their website is www.aisin-aw.co.jp. English with a lot of info. They make for GM, Ford, Audi, Renault, Volkswagen, Daewoo and more. Also have a plant in NC http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/happy.gif
As far as I know the seat are upholstered in leather in Poland. The most weird thing is where the mud flaps are made.......Switzerland!!!

Amazing indeed!
It would be nice if there were parts from all continents, we would have a true "Intercontinental" then http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif

Rims, South Africa, we are getting closer to a global car.
Hmmm....that's interesting...country of origin on my Tellus rims shows Germany.
Here's a few more to add to the list:
Particulate Filter - Austria
Aluminum Inlays - United Kingdom
Compact Spare - Italy
Wiper Blades - Germany

Art, Here you go, bet you thought i was loosing it.
HeadXC,
From what I understand, many of the O.E.M. wheels were being manufactured by a German company called ATS Beteilingungsgeselleschaft, whose name I won't even begin to prounounce.
Sometime ago, 70% of ATS was bought up by another wheel manufacturer based in South Africa called Tiger Wheels. This probably explains the reasoning behind the two different stampings on our wheels. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
I didn't realize SA was such a big player in the wheel market. Apparently two other aftermarket wheel manufacturers are headquartered there, TSW and Smiths.

South Africa's role in the wheel market?
.....I'll bet its related to the SA dominance in the Chrome Industry.... that's my best educated guess. Major 'political' issue for tarif structure on autoparts importers in pre-Mandela govt.

After reading XCChucks post about banging his head against the door handle, I decided to order the sunglass holder, not because I have a problem with the door handle, but because I never use the handle anyway and I was still looking for a good place for my sunglasses.
The part is made in Estonia, a country not mentioned yet in the list :)

I don't know if it has been mentioned yet or not, but in the spirit of this and the "space saver spare" thread... the compact spare is made in Turkey :D
