Visiting a friend last night and I was parked on the lower level of the downtown parking deck. Turns out the plows weren't as careful as they should be.

Appraisal, insurance claim, talking to the chief of police and head of the dept. of transportation pending for Monday.

Moral of the story; Look up and watch were you park.

The roof is dented in forward of the center brace of the luggage bars, the sunroof is in a million pieces some of which are in the car, some are downtown, some are in my parking spot, most are in the trash, and I'm not sure what's been done to the hood and windshield. I have to wait to get it into a garage and melt all of the snow and ice out.

Here's most of the pictures I took.

Rustpot, Sorry to see that--a real bummer. Good luck--let us know how fixable this is.

Got my first quote today, north of $1,600 on preliminary inspection of visible damage, repairing hood and roof, replacing sunroof unit.

I thought it'd be more, but we'll see how it goes. Two more quotes tomorrow, from a couple places 3 and 5 miles down the road (going before noon, hopefully less traffic so I can go slow), a call back to the police chief to tell him the quotes, a call over to my claims adjuster to see who wants to handle and pay.

Hopefully it will be in the shop Wednesday or Thursday, and out of the shop well before Dec 20 when I'll be making my 500 mile trek home for the holidays.

The guy in the red is me, it's my nice Columbia winter. I'm not exactly a large jolly fellow, but I suppose I ain't skin and bone either ;) Besides, if that was Santa, that's one hell of a bad Christmas gift to leave me! What happened to coal?

Got the rest of the pictures up. Shows the damage a bit better after the snow got mostly cleared away

Next two quotes are better idea- $5800 and $6500

Windshield has chips in my field of vision-replaced
Hood dented in- replaced for $834

Big kickers are the sunshade ($455) and the sunroof glass ($500) the god damn windshield is only $230

$700 for the roof panel, miscellaneous braces and guides and sunroof frame and labor bump it up.

Thank God for insurance and the city being at fault, can't imagine if this wasn't covered.
