Rear Wiper

I notice that some XC70's have the wiper rest position on the left and others (like mine) on the right. Does this involve the model year or the country where the XC70 is sold?

This topic came up for discussion a few years ago and I think the consensus then was that it was a "total mystery" :confused:[happy] as to why some folks had rear wipers resting left and some had them resting right, even in the same model years..... My '03 and '07 both rest to the right...fwiw I know at one point we were thinking that maybe it switched with each model year, but I seem to recall that someone was able to debunk that. In the end, I think we all just agreed that we needed more beer! Not while driving though! :D

In order to maintain symmetry in the world, there must be equal numbers of right and left oriented wipers on Volvo XC's. If the numbers were not equal, one could feel the earth wobble.
At the end of the Volvo assembly line there is a random number generator that generates a number for each vehicle. If the number is odd, the wiper is oriented to the left, if even to the right.:D -Dick
