I found out what was causing my car to run sluggish and would sound like if it wanted to cut off. I thought the Throttle body was going bad but turns out it was this little black box (PCV) located under the intake manifold. You have to remove the intake manifold to get to it and remove the black box and you will see the openings that tubes are connected to it filled with burnt oil that has formed a wall. The PCV box cost like $25 and you will savee 1k for doing it yourself. I did it on my own and my 2004 xc90 2.5T is running like new.
