I've got a 2002 V70XC with 113,000km on it. It's got all the bells and whistles expect DTC. It also has an Volvo extended warranty good until Dec.22, 2008. All works has been done at a local Volvo dealer.
I want to sell it and move up to a real 4x4 either the FJ or new Wrangler. I have really enjoyed the car, but want something a little more rugged.

The black book here in Canada shows around $13k to a dealer, however I just can't take that type of hit. I've seen 04's running around $33K Cdn at the dealers, and some as low as $22K (must be high mileage??).

I'd like to get as close to $20K as possible...Am I being realistic?

My 2001 with 88,000 is worth about $9000 to someone else. Might get $11,000 for private sale to someone that really wants it.

I just bought my 2001 XC70 with 87,000 miles and in awesome condition for $12,000, which really was a pretty good deal.

I traded our 2001 with 110,000 miles for 6000USD. It was in good condition.

I understand the reputation of the car killed its value. This site wouldn't be popular if it weren't for the 01.

I appreciate the responses from the memebers in the States but I don't believe this accurately reflects pricing in Canada.

Any Canadian members out there willing to comment?

No, in either Canadian OR US dollars :o

I really dont think I am that far off...the dealer that I have been working with on the 4x4, has now come up to $15,360cdn.

We all know that they base their numbers on the black book value to the dealer, so that they can resell the vehicle with a decent profit margin (thats their biz and I understand that)...however what I am looking for is a CANADIAN street value estimate...NOT U.S.

They are cheaper in the states...considerably...as I have had friends go down and purchase these cars and bring them back up here and make a decent profit.

Additionally my car is not an 01...rather and 02 with an extended warranty in very good condition.

ANY CANADIANS OUT THERE WITH AN OPINION????

In my experience, XC's definitely garner a premium in the Vancouver market.

Take a look at AutoTrader (http://www.canadatrader.com/). Looks like 01's go in the high teens, and 2004's go for the mid to high 20's.

Assuming it's in good shape, one would think you'd be able to get pretty close to your 20k target.

That's nuts.
An 01 with higher miles is a 10 grand car here, an 02 with medium miles, 15 TOPS, mostly less.
I was buying 02's with 80K miles TWO years ago for 12 grand

I know it sounds crazy that's why I asked.

I've always thought it odd that the same car in the U.S. was so cheap in comparison to the equivalent in Vancouver. I can't speak for the rest of Canada but I think I have to concur with Coastal...thanks by the way.

I got mine in January of this year with 97,000kms on it for 26K on the road. I got it at a local Honda dealership.....had the wife with me as she loved the car (and made sure the salesman knew it:mad::mad::mad:). I knew the car was way overpriced to start with but managed to beat off 3K. I'm kinda pissed about the whole deal and wish I had gone in myself......women just get enamoured with the car, and any salesman worth his salt picks right up on it !! But she's happy, and I get still get some so I can't complain I guess !!
