not to long ago (2 weeks ago) i was in canada myself
i was in whistler (for kokanee crankworx) and in vancouver for a week.

It sure helps to have several great national parks right here in our province of Alberta. From our location, it's roughly a three hour drive via the David Thompson Hwy/Ice Field Parkway to Sunwapta Pass which marks the boundary between Banff and Jasper National Parks.

There are some incredible day hikes in either park which simply means if we leave early in the morning we can be back home at a reasonable time before dusk.
